One episode at a time

We pick an episode, watch it, and talk through it start to finish: the jokes that landed, the ones that aged badly, and the background details you missed the first time.

Fridays

That Ain't Right Friday

King of the Hill news and whatever else this week deserves a long, slow head shake. Revival rumors, casting, and the occasional story that sounds like it came straight from Arlen.

Solo

The essay

Mike, one camera, one argument. Longer looks at why the show still works, what it got right about Texas, and what the revival is doing with it.

The hosts

Mike Hamilton

Mike Hamilton

Host · camera left

Waco producer, author of Make the Show, and the one who brings the notes. Has produced more podcasts than he'll admit to and still thinks this is the best one.

Rusty

Co-host · camera right

Goes by Rusty Shackleford. We have never asked to see ID. Brings the gut reactions, the hot takes, and the reason half the clips go viral.

The dispatch

  1. Season 15 lands on Hulu

All ten episodes dropped at once. Hank and Peggy are settling into retirement on Rainey Street, and Bobby is running his own business.

  2. Renewed through Season 17

Hulu ordered two more seasons, 20 episodes total, before Season 15 had even aired.

  3. The revival premieres

Season 14 ended a 15-year break: ten episodes, an older Bobby, and Hank and Peggy back from years in Saudi Arabia.

  4. Our night with Jonathan Joss

The voice of John Redcorn sat down with us in front of a live audience at The Green Room in Austin for The Redcorn Experience. It turned out to be his last interview; he died the next day. We're grateful for the conversation and we'll always hold it as a good one.

  5. That Ain't Right Friday: Time Jump

Early word from the cast that the revival would jump ahead and age Bobby up. We called it a good sign. It was.

In memory

Jonathan Joss

The voice of John Redcorn joined us live in Austin on May 31, 2025, for The Redcorn Experience. It was the last interview he gave. We're grateful he spent that night with us.

Gary, an original King of the Hill animator and a friend of Jonathan's, put all of us in one picture. It was the first time he had ever drawn John Redcorn.
